Summertime Fun

Summer is a very special time! For students, teachers, the young and the young at heart! It’s a time to let loose, to relax, to experience new things and make memories that will last forever!
There are so many wonderful ways to enjoy summer so we thought we would share some of the ways the Classy Threads team spends their summer and some other suggestions on ways to enjoy this time of year!
Time in Nature

The Classy Threads headquarters is located in Edmonton, Alberta, surrounded by incredible natural beauty, including the Rocky Mountains!
Running Classy Threads keeps Karen and her family, who all help out in one way or another, very busy during the school year. So when they have some downtime they love taking road trips to explore the Alberta wilderness and nearby British Columbia!
Karen’s large and active family finds lots of fun things to do including hiking, swimming, and even ziplining!

They also find new and creative ways to “hang out” and get the much needed time to relax and recharge to get ready for the year ahead!

Backyard Oasis

Petra, another member of the Classy Threads team, is also located in Edmonton. If you are familiar with Edmonton, you know our winter is cold, but our summer is beautiful, and being located so far north has one huge advantage, long summer days!
For almost all of June, the sun rises just after 5 am and stays out until after 10 pm! On the longest day of the year, June 21, we get 17 hours and 2 minutes of daylight.
So you can understand why Petra needs a backyard oasis complete with a gazebo. From starting the day with breakfast and tea or coffee outside in the morning, catching up on reading, spending time with family and friends in the afternoon, to barbeques and watching the sunset at night, anything and everything can be enjoyed outside with a space like this. The whole family appreciates it, even the cats…especially the cats!!!
Urban Exploration

Our digital expert, Shawn, also makes good use of the long days in Edmonton to explore the city. Shawn lives downtown in Alberta’s capital and loves getting out on his scooter to look for new spots to take photos!
He also burns off a lot of calories which he might use as an excuse to check out new restaurants and dessert spots that he “stumbles upon” during his exploring! It’s important to stay hydrated and nourished!
